Strategies and Approaches
The Harder Foundation supports advocacy strategies that constructively engage key constituencies to achieve specific, tangible outcomes. Priority will be given to fund organizations and programs that:
- Strategically deploy scientific, advocacy, legal, organizing, and communication assets in creative campaigns and projects to influence decision-makers, leverage resources, and win support for durable conservation actions.
- Reach out to nontraditional allies, and work with and mobilize diverse constituencies around common goals.
- Build effective and genuine collaboration with organizations, community leaders, public agencies, and policymakers.
- Demonstrate agility and innovation to take advantage of emerging or special opportunities.
Foundation support is limited to non-profit organizations that are tax exempt under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Service Code. Although the Foundation does not support projects focused on legislative lobbying, general support grants to Section 501(c)3 charities may be used to support a grantee's overall operations, even if the grantee engages in lobbying as part of its programs.
